The 14- to 30-foot fiberglass market fell at about the same rate as last month, according to preliminary numbers for October.

Fiberglass boats in the 14- to 30-foot segment were down 22.5 percent for the month.

Aluminum boats sales fell at about the same rate as fiberglass in the month, dropping 22.7 percent.

The rate of decline for PWC was up dramatically compared to last month, posting a steep decrease of 42.6 percent.

These statistics include 34 early reporting states, which represent approximately 70 percent of the national market.

Retail sales for new boats in October indicated that the market is still contracting, but at a slower rate than during the primary boat-buying season.

The good news is that pipeline inventory is continuing to drop and the new model year will bring new boats to entice more buyers back into the marketplace.
