Who Killed Copperhead? Part II
The Final Resolution of Our Two-Year Project Ski
Text and Photography by Kevin Shaw

Although I covered the birth, creation, fruition, and eventual demise of our ill-famed project build Copperhead, I never got the chance to show its actual execution. Well, at last, here it is! The axe (or Sawzall in this case) finally dropped. Who killed Copperhead? Well, if who you're looking for is the man who pulled the trigger, that would be none other than Kawasaki's John Baynes.

Many might recall Baynes as he accompanied me and several others on a handful of Personal Watercraft Illustrated's various location trips. Baynes started his career with legendary ski-builder Performance Jet Ski (PJS) before joining Kawasaki's Research and Development team. Now working with the in-house service department, John personally prepares all of the Kawasakis that you see in the pages of America's favorite watercraft magazine, Personal Watercraft Illustrated.

The following images depict graphic PWC violence. Please take caution while proceeding...

This is an excerpt from Kevin's Watermarks Online editorial. For the whole story and photos of Copperhead's gruesome demise, simply click here.
