Melbourne, FL - BRP will soon deliver another new Sea-Doo® watercraft to the Lopez house as pro surfer Shea Lopez won the 2008 Red Bull Tow-At event during the Sebastian Inlet Pro surf contest. Brother Cory, won a Sea-Doo watercraft at the inaugural event in 2005 and now Shea will take delivery of a new 2008 Sea-Doo GTI™ watercraft for his winning performance.

Surfing hall of famer Matt Kechele piloted the new Red Bull Sea-Doo GTI SE in the chest high waves at Sebastian Inlet, slinging the ten competitors into the break for big aerials and hard carving maneuvers. Shea Lopez, a former competitor on the elite ASP World Tour, took the event win with a buzzer-beating forehand aerial that gave him Red Bull Tow-At win.

“I won the Tow-At a few years back and it feels really good to win it again,” said Lopez. “I had a pretty bad run all the way through when Matt (Kechele) pulled me into the last one. I just went for broke and managed to come out on top!”

All competitors truly demonstrated the sponsor’s tag line of “Red Bull gives you wings with all athletes slamming into the breaks at roughly 30 mph launching them into the air. Both Lopez brothers are regulars at Sebastian where they often take in Tow-At sessions with East coast local and ASP World Champion CJ Hobgood and brother Damien.

Shea Lopez will receive recognition for his win during the Sebastian Inlet Pro awards ceremony taking place on Friday, January 13th in conjunction with the 2008 Surf Expo in Orlando.

BRP supplied the power during the 2008 Red Bull Tow-At surfing event with a custom 155 hp Sea Doo GTI SE ™ watercraft. The GTI model is the ideal tow-vehicle in surf conditions with its nimble handling, strong throttle response, and ability to stay on top of the break without getting caught in the white water. Each competitor was towed into the peak of the wave break at roughly 20-30 mph allowing them to perform maneuvers only made possible by the towing ability of a Sea-Doo watercraft.
